The pursuit of athletic excellence is challenging and one that involves balancing academic commitments, family responsibilities, and overcoming financial obstacles. Preparation to be the best often requires training twice a day, eating well and a lot, and many personal sacrifices. Some athletes are fortunate and have a great family environment that can provide the social and financial support essential to maintaining the dedication necessary to excel in their sport. Others rely on limited funding from club teams, provincial and national associations, and personal fund-raising efforts. Unfortunately the amount of funds available through these external sources is less than the number of athletes in need.
RIVALUS CEO, Dr. Burke, was an elite athlete, an academic scholar, and funded his own education. He understands first hand the many barriers to success in sport and academia.
