Wake Up Early-”ier”

I’m not saying everyone should be waking up before the birds start chirping but if you’re the person that wakes up and barely has time to brush your teeth and change clothes, then get ready for a change! I guarantee if that’s the person you find yourself being, you probably are also dashing out of the house and soon finding that you left something there that should have gone along with you. The reason for this? You’re not as mentally or physically ready for your day as you could be… you’re still tired! So all I’m recommending….? Wakeup to give yourself enough time to perfect a morning routine without having to rush around the house or rush out of the door.

Make Your Bed

Don’t skip out on something so simple! Even something this small can give you the same good vibes as completing any other task can. Plus, this is the perfect start of the day that can cause a domino effect to make sure you’re not skipping out on any of your other constructive tasks you may come across throughout your day! Start off your day knowing it’s going to be a positive and successful day without any shortcuts!

Be Mindful

Do you journal? Meditate? Pray? Reflect? All of the above? Heck yes! These are all great ways to maintain a virtuous mind and healthy mentality. With any of these mindful tools you can incorporate: what you’re thankful for, what you’re proud of, what you wish you could do, or what you wish you didn’t do. This is a way of working on better ourselves and shaping the person we want to become because there is ALWAYS room for improvement.

Share the Gratification

This is the time to connect with someone you love, someone you’re thinking of, or someone who has influenced you. What is it that you reflected on? No matter what it may be, reflecting helps us to uncover feelings you didn’t realized before or spend too much time acknowledging. If it made you value something you can share with someone or even if it made you appreciate something about someone around you, share that with them! Spread love and optimism for what it is worth. If someone has impacted you positively, then you should let that person know. It’s simple to tell someone how blessed you are to have them in your life, share your happiness with them, or thank that someone for what they’ve done, but this can be the difference between a good or bad day for that person and there goes another positive domino effect.

Visualize Your Perfect Day

Find your least favorite chore of the morning that consumes a little bit of time. Is it Vacuuming, cardio, cooking breakfast, doing your hair? Now use this time to keep your mind active while simultaneously completing this morning task: Make a check- list! Whether it’s a mental checklist or physically written on paper. I usually make my mental checklist while I’m doing morning cardio and I think of all of the things I need to get done think of an order I can complete everything in. Not only am I making a checklist for the day, but thinking of the situations I will be in that day and the people I will be surrounded by. How do I want those interactions to play out and how can I act more proactively rather than reacting negatively to any comments or unwanted situations? If your morning starts with a positive visual on what you need to get done and how to do that as well as visualizing positive interactions with people, then it will become an easier task than reacting over obstacles through the day. Visualizing your best-self is the best way to become your best-self.

Check Something off Your Checklist

Check-lists can be simple. Fix your bed, check. Shower, check. So check something off your list and start the day feeling accomplished. If you have any extra time before you get out of the house, then check off some other important things to lighten the load of your list later in the day.

Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Are you the person who can cook a deluxe omelet and sit down with to eat with a coffee and a good read or are you the one who has to limit the time a little and make a protein shake to go? Either one is fine! Just make sure you’re filling yourself with a nutritious breakfast and leaving enough time to create whatever you can so that you’re not stressing or rushing out of the house.

Workout

Now I know someone will read this who has a routine to leave for work at 3am and just laugh at this. So, this is not for everyone but any exercise in the morning will definitely get you off to a better start! Don’t have time for a full workout or lift, then a few minutes of stretching, meditation or going on a walk are all options that can boost your mood via release of endorphins. If you have time for a cardio session or even a lift, then do it! Power to you. I’ll be over here on my elliptical.

Practice & Repeat

Nail your get-ready-quick-routine without the stress of rushing around the house. The more you practice your healthy routines and get into the habit of giving yourself enough time to get each task done, the more you will be able to do all things successfully and reap the benefits of having a productive morning.
