Independence...Good or Bad?

Being independent doesn’t mean that you don’t need help, doesn’t mean that you can’t ever rely on someone. What it does mean however is that you’ll be ok when your alone or if you don’t have that person to lean on. Just recently I had one of those moments where I realized I was relying to much on those around me to be my motivation or to guide me through my days. unexpectedly i was in a situation that affected me much more than I knew it would, Almost like a wake up call(a much needed one). The first couple days i was in a major funk and couldn’t snap out of it for almost a week. It was like everyday i was moving in slow motion dragging my feet. Not just in the gym but with my life in general. I felt like i wasn’t being present in the moment and my days just seemed to be a blur. All just because I got so reliant on others. After being in that weird funk for a while i started to realize this is not ok nor was it healthy and that I need to snap out of it. The thought occurred to me that we as individuals need to find that balance between letting others help us but be ok when they aren’t there to help. I used to be afraid of letting people help me because i felt that meant i was weak, that I couldn’t handle stuff on my own. That i wasn’t “independent” But that is far from the truth. We all need help sometimes or that extra push. But we also need to start loving ourselves more, find a good routine and learn to be our own motivation. Start by focusing on doing things you love and surrounding yourself with good people. Take time to reflect on yourself and your days.
