Gloves…(or chalk). Grip is everything. If you’re like me, after a few minutes of intense lifting you’re drenched in sweat making each set harder and more dangerous because of potential hand slippage. A good pair of gloves will ensure you have a perfect solid grip every time you touch the bar. If you workout out at a more bare and knuckles type of gym, give chalk a try.

Headphones. Music helps with focus. Cancelling out inevitable distractions like the guy next to you grunting for dear life as he pushes his sets out. There’s also scientific evidence, like the one conducted by neurologist Dr. Daniel Levitin’s study, “This Is Your Brain On Music”, that suggests listening to your favorite tunes while working out dulls pain, helping you move faster.

Weightlifting Belt. A weightlifting belt isn’t just beneficial for squats and deadlifts. This belt can help stabilize and reduce stress on your spine throughout your entire workout. To get the most benefit from a weightlifting belt, wear it one hole looser than as tight as it can go.

Supplements. Finding the right mixture of what your body needs to perform and recover optimally is key. When choosing your supplements you should think about what you feel you’re lacking during your workout, is it energy? Strength? Focus?
